Do you remember when you could dedicate so much time to work that it didn’t matter what time you came home because you could still get a good night’s rest and do it all again the next day?
Well, I’m not saying you can’t still dedicate yourself to work; it will just look a little different now.
Balancing work and motherhood can feel overwhelming, but remember, it’s not about doing everything perfectly—it’s about finding your own rhythm.
Here’s how you can achieve that balance. Let me help you create harmony between juggling work and motherhood and make it actionable:
Understand Your Priorities
Start by identifying what truly matters to you in both your work and home life.
Take a moment to think: if you could only focus on five categories of your life right now, what would you choose and why?
Consider these areas:
Your well-being
Family
Work
Marriage (I include this in family because I believe it’s a critical part of it.)
Understanding these priorities will help you focus your energy on what’s most important and let go of less critical tasks. You may need to say no to some things right now, but that’s okay. You can revisit them in a different season of life.
You need to be flexible and prioritize what matters most to you. For me, my top four are family, wellness, business, and homemaking. Right now, I want you to focus on your top five because you want to thrive during your postpartum period, not just survive the day-to-day.
2. Create Time Blocks
Time blocking is a powerful technique to manage your schedule effectively. Make specific blocks of time for different tasks, whether it’s work, family time, or personal time.
There is no set amount of time because each mom has a different day to day. I know for me my time blocks are there but some days you have to pivot and find time.

3. Set Realistic Goals
Set achievable goals for both your work and personal life. Recognize that not everything needs to be done perfectly but with quality. After having my first son while working, I learned not everything is urgent. Some task I use to think was urgent actually could wait until the next day.
Break tasks into smaller, manageable steps and adjust your goals as needed. Plus always give yourself a deadline to get it done. You will make it happen.

4. Communicate and Delegate
If you’re working outside the home, communicate your needs and boundaries with your employer and colleagues. Set boundaries that benefit both parties, as you don’t want to miss valuable time with your little one or family that you won’t get back.
Consider delegating tasks at work or at home to share the load. You don’t have to do it all yourself. Determine what tasks need your specific attention and what others can handle. At home, involve your partner, family, friends, or hire help with childcare or household chores.
5. Embrace Flexibility
Flexibility is key. Be prepared to adapt your schedule as needed. Babies, Toddlers, and Kids can be unpredictable, so having a flexible approach will help reduce stress and make it easier to adjust to changing circumstances. If you are enrolling your little one in daycare or school be sure to have grace with yourself on the days you may have to stay home to tend to the little ones due to a cold, holiday etc. You can also always ask for help too.
6. Practice Self-Care
Taking care of yourself is essential for maintaining your sanity while adjusting to a new role.
Ensure you’re getting enough rest when you can, eating well, and taking time for activities that recharge you.
Self-care is not a luxury; it’s a necessity.
7. Reflect and Adjust
Regularly reflect on what’s working and what isn’t. Make adjustments to your time blocks and priorities as needed. It’s a continuous process of finding what best supports your well-being and productivity.
Conclusion for Juggling Work and Motherhood
Balancing work and motherhood is an ongoing journey, but with intentional time management and self-compassion, you can find your own harmony.
Remember, it’s okay to not have everything figured out right away. Embrace the process, celebrate your successes, and be kind to yourself as you navigate this new chapter.
